The 35 posts in 21 Days Case Study – God of SEO
Author: findmyblogway
So I launched God of SEO, on the 18th of June, 2026 – Today is the 9th of July, that's 21 days since I launched and in that time I've managed to rack up 35 blog posts!

The Statistics –
My blog performed pretty awesomely in my opinion, and I'm hoping to continue to grow it over the next few months (if not years) and see where I can take it from there, I'll now let you move onto my statistics!
I suggest if you're looking to setup your own new blog, checking out this post.
Post Indexing Rate –
Every post I published was Indexed within 2 hours (See my indexing tutorial here on how you can get posts indexed ridiculously quickly) and I saw some immediate domination for keywords, though this may of been down to the stupidly high authority my site was getting from the Rand fishkin case study, which has now been disavowed!
Top 5 Posts (Traffic) –
Unsurprisingly, my top 3 posts featured Rand Fishkin and the other 2 were pretty big and nice quality posts!
Moz Ranking Case Study Prologue – 407 Visits
Rand Fishkin Black Hat Emails – 311 Visits
Penguin 2.0 Hurting Local Businesses – 222 Visits
How to build a prviate Blog Network – 137 Visits
Backlink Beast Tutorial & Review – 118 Visits
Top 5 Keywords (From Organic SERPs) –
This part was rather frustrating! Out of the 397 visits I got 336 of them were (not provided) meaning I can't really get a very accurate view point from this, however I'll still share!
Rand Fishkin – 10
Moz – 4
God of SEO – 4
Zebra Matt Cutts – 3
Matt Woodward SEO – 2 (bit random)
Top 5 Referrals –
I wielded some awesome results from Inbound after hitting the #1 spot for a good 2 days straight! Though I think the majority of my visits came from my forum and social engagement.
inbound – 398
Black Hat team – 111
Google+ – 78
Twitter – 67
Rude Baguette & Traffic Planet – 62 (TIED at 62 Visits Each)
Newsletter –
The newsletter was a bit disappointing, I'd bought Ninja Popups + the theme pack a while ago for a clients site and decided to use it for this site, unfortunately it didn't get that many signups even though they look kick ass! (If you're new here – it will off been the light blue, nicely designed popup you had to close to view this content, sorry).
I saw 60 Subscriptions (which is pretty nice, though compared to the amount of traffic I had, I would of liked a lot more).
My Social Networks –
I saw my twitter account getting a ton more engagement! I went from around 7,900 followers well into the 8,000s now and have been getting daily interactions with various people from the SEO Community, as well as most of my posts being shared.
I also saw my brand new fanpage go from 0 likes upto around 30+ now.
I received 18 +1s to my main site as well, and Google+ has been an awesome content sharer as well, with a ton of people sharing my content and engaging with me on it as well!
My Marketing Strategy –
What did I actually do other than just write posts?
I know I had to engage with other communities, I already had some nice profiles that had a bit of authority on some of the big marketing forums.
Warrior Forum (saw 37 visits, I used WF to get a couple of links but the Mods removed most of them even when they were genuinely helping the person and for some odd reason, they wouldn't allow me to post links to helpful content I hadn't even published. Unless I was in the War Room which you pay access to, obviously!)
WickedFire (saw 20 visits, though their site seems to be a mix between 4chan and black hat world)
Traffic Planet (saw 62 out of all the forums, this has got to be the nicest – Mods were awesome and helped me introduce myself and the community seems to be just all round nice people, 0 trolls and 0 hate)
Black Hat World (saw 19, as my account got banned, so I asked a friend to post some links instead),
JoinTBF (Saw 10 visits, only joined 3 days prior – It's a teenage business social network, has some really great content on there from young people actually!)
Moz (Saw 22 but my username was godofseo so I'm pretty sure people just copy and pasted to give me a direct visit).
Guest Posts –
I also did a number of guest posts, as well as being offered the chance to do even more! That saw me get around 60 visits through from the various different sites I'd posted to, and also offered some pretty nice backlinks and social engagement. I saw my guest post on this very blog hit over 40 +1s and stay on Inbound's front page for a while.
Working with other People & Asking for Favors –
I already have and had (previous to this experiment) a ton of friends in the internet marketing and specifically SEO industry. I asked very kindly for a favor, where they'd share my content – In return, if they ever needed a favor I'd be more than happy to help. This saw my social signals spike and got me some good comments on my posts as well!
I also asked around for any guest posting opportunities and any ideas for content, this was actually a great idea as just talking with people gave me inspiration for content. It also showed me a couple of awesome posts I found that I wouldn't of found before, which led me to create "inspiration based posts"
Interaction –
I didn't get all that much interaction on my blog, all in all around 15 comments – Though every single 1, I tried to reply to and be as nice as possible. I did however get an awesome plugin which notifies people whenever they get their comment approved, this saw my return rates shoot up pretty nicely!
I was considering using some Fiverr gigs to get good some easy engagement, I may still do it, for $5 it actually brings a lot of quality, adds more content to your posts and makes it look bigger than the site actually is. I compiled a small list below, in the downloads section.
Content Ideas –
The main thing, is actually coming up with the ideas for the content you want to create. I based a lot of my content of others, which is perfectly fine in my opinion, if it was a "steal" I'd always link back anyway. Liam did an excellent post on coming up with content ideas.
I suggest just talking to people though, ask them if they've found any nice content recently or even just asking how their day went (especially if they're a muggle, it means you get into the head of your "average joe").
Blogs and Posts I found along the Way –
I was researching a lot for inspiration and found some epic blogs that I've never seen before along the way, heck if I'm promoting my blog in this.. Why not promote someone else's?
Agent Black Hat – A really cool blog that focuses on a lot of trickery for getting good conversion rates and some very "unconventional" link building tactics.
SEOBook's Semantics Post – Suggested to me by the owner of this very own website, Matthew Barby and showcases the way Google can increase your rankings if you build links with the anchor text as synonyms of your keywords.
Blind Five Year Old – AJ Kohn's epic blog which for some reason, I'd never seen before. I'd seen his face plastered around the SEO Community but only recently stuck it to a name.
Netmark's Google Ranking Factors – There was a similar post on Moz, but this post goes into a lot more detail and has a more broad perspective rather than just from a white hat's perspective.
Jon Cooper's Link Builders Mentality – This post actually helped hugely with my Moz case study post that I'm doing recently. I couldn't really express how I felt about the shift in the SEO industry recently and it helped me set my mind on it perfectly.
Why Google's Disavow Tool is Bad News for SEO – I agree with this post so much, I'm genuinely glad that someone came out with this, I've used Disavow a load of times but I tend to hate using it and only as a last resort.
Downloads –
I compiled a Zip Folder with a ton of useful plugins, articles, links and graphics that I've used over the past 21 days and hope you can find some cool uses for it as well!
Thanks for Reading!
Thanks for reading my case study, I hope you learned a thing or two and get some good ideas from this post!
